Important compliance notes for AI voice and messaging

AI voice and messaging engines are powerful, but they operate in regulated areas. The business operating the campaign is responsible for compliant use in their jurisdiction. We strongly recommend a brief attorney consult before launch — especially for outbound calling and call recording.

  • TCPA (Telephone Consumer Protection Act): Outbound AI / prerecorded voice calls to consumer mobile numbers generally require prior express written consent. The Growth Stack provides the technology; you control who is called and on what basis.
  • Two-party consent states: Some U.S. states (including California, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Washington) require all parties to consent before a call is recorded. Standard practice is a recorded opening that discloses recording and the use of an AI assistant.
  • AI disclosure: Disclosing that a caller is speaking with an automated assistant is a fast-emerging best practice and is required in some jurisdictions. Your AI receptionist script can include this disclosure by default.
  • SMS / A2P 10DLC: Conversation AI messaging follows the same TCPA and carrier rules as any business SMS — express opt-in, message frequency disclosure, "Msg & data rates may apply," and STOP / HELP keywords.   • Review solicitation (FTC): The 5 Star Review System sends requests to every customer after the qualifying event (a job, visit, or transaction) — it does not "gate" requests by filtering happy customers from unhappy ones, which is prohibited under the FTC's fake-reviews rule. Does the AI really sound human, or will my customers know it's a bot?

How does call forwarding work — do I need to change my business number?

No. Call forwarding is included with the Missed Call Receptionist. You keep your existing published number. We configure call forwarding rules through your phone provider — typically forwarding only missed, busy, or after-hours calls to the AI receptionist. You can also forward 100% of calls if you'd like the AI to be the primary answer point.

Can the AI book appointments directly into my calendar?

Yes. Both the Missed Call Receptionist and the Website Social Agent can book directly into a connected calendar (Google Calendar, Outlook, or a CRM-native booking calendar). The AI confirms availability, collects required details, and sends the customer a calendar confirmation — no staff involvement required.

What happens when a caller or chatter needs a real human?

Both engines include a one-click human handoff. The AI can transfer a hot call to a live team member in real time, or notify your team via SMS / email to jump into a chat. You decide which triggers escalate (for example: "speak to a manager," "billing complaint," "emergency request") — and the AI handles everything else.

How does the 5 Star Review System avoid "review gating" — is it FTC-safe?

Review gating — only soliciting happy customers, or filtering unhappy ones out before they can post — is prohibited under the FTC's fake-reviews rule. The 5 Star Review System sends review requests to every customer after the qualifying event (a service, visit, or completed job). The AI then responds to every review that comes in, positive or negative, with a professional reply. Negative reviews are flagged for your immediate attention via real-time alerts so you can address them.

What's required to launch — and how long does setup take?

Typical setup runs 5–10 business days. We need: your business hours, FAQs, common call / message topics, your booking calendar, your CRM (if any), and a short list of escalation triggers.
